The Halti Lights Experience is a three-day dog sled journey through the mountain landscape between Northern Norway and Finland.

Travelling with your own team of Alaskan huskies, you'll cross open plateaus, frozen lakes and quiet valleys before reaching the area below Halti, Finland's highest mountain. The route changes with the snow and weather conditions, giving every trip its own character.

You'll learn how to handle your sled, care for your dogs and become part of the daily routines on the trail. No previous dog sledding experience is needed—we'll guide you every step of the way. 

Travel the traditional way

Dog sledding has been used to travel through the Arctic for generations. It remains one of the most reliable and environmentally gentle ways to move across the winter landscape.

We travel in small groups and adapt to the conditions rather than following a fixed schedule. The welfare of the dogs always comes first, and we leave as little trace as possible as we move through the mountains.

Guided by experience

Roy has worked with sled dogs since 2005 and has completed ten long-distance races. Years on the trail have taught him that no two days are alike. Weather, snow and the dogs themselves all influence the journey.

His goal is simple: to share the kind of dog sledding he knows best—with healthy dogs, small groups and enough time to enjoy the journey.

 The journey

During three days on the trail, you'll experience both the work and the rewards of travelling with sled dogs. We stop to feed the dogs, prepare meals together and take breaks where the landscape invites us to slow down.

If the skies are clear, there's also a good chance of seeing the northern lights away from roads and artificial light.

The mountain Halti on traditional Saami Ráisduottarháldi is a mountain on the border between Nordreisa and Kåfjord municipality in Troms county. Fjellet reaches 1 361 m above sea level 

Part of the mountain is also the highest point in Finland. 

The Sami name means "the sacred mountain of Reisavidda" . On the kven-language the name means roughly the same thing; the word *haltii* derives from *haltia*, meaning "guardian spirit" or "supernatural/underground being.

You must NOT take any rock from this mountain to keep. Its sacred and needs to be left where it is!
